Tandanaa: ...when the gods come down to earth and dance... where divine bells echo in rustic rhythms...where classical meets folk.. together building tradition... You are all cordially invited to " Tandanaa " a creative dance presentation of five different classical dance styles - Bharatnatyam, Kathak, Kuchipudi,, Mohiniattam and Odissi along with the authentic folk dances from India.

Mosaic: A Global Dancescape, ia a celebration of the spirit of World Dance. Maitrii dancers, collaborated with local dance institutes of International dance styles like Ballet, Tap, Flamenco, Philipino, and Polynesian, to present a unified art experience.

This choreographic effort was a tribute to the power of the feminine divinity and to the rejuvenating and enduring spirit of the trailblazers like Malala and countless other brave women from mythical to modern times.

An Indian Classical Dance presentation Tales of love, beauty, courage and  valor, as witnessed by the river Yamuna down the ages. This is a fundraiser by SAAVI to support immigration rights programs in
South Asian American community













Panchama Vedam by Maitrii (April 30, 2011)

Dance was created as the ‘Panchama Vedam’ or the 5th veda by Lord Brahma by taking the text from the Rig Veda, Music from the Sama veda, Abhinaya from the Yajur Veda and Rasa from the Atharvana Veda. The artistes celebrate the world of dance through a collage of various dance forms of India, visualizing and attempting to capture the nuances of Tandava and Lasya as extold in the Natya Sastra.

‘MAITRII-Detroit’ proudly presents – “Yugma – the dance confluence”. In keeping with the mission of Maitrii, this is our humble attempt to promote appreciation of our artforms by bonding with our classical roots. Maitrii, a result of impulsive enthusiasm, is an outlet for our passion towards the art forms and high regard for fellow artistes. Its sole purpose is to sustain our rich cultural heritage by showcasing the beautiful tapestry and harmony of the various classical dance forms in India.
Internationally acclaimed artistes, Padmavani and JaiKishore Mosalikanti(chennai) will present Kuchipudi, and Vaishali and Hemant Panwar(Toronto) will present Kathak, to perform at the Royal Oak Middle School, on the 23rd of September.

Pancha Bhootam by Arpana Dance Company (April 30, 2011)

Maitrii (Detroit) was honored to present Pancha Bhootam , an innovative production of Arpana Dance Company of Los Angeles on the five elements of nature.a Bharata Natyam presentation by southern California based Arpana Dance Company. Interpreting Pancha Bhootam, the abstract concept of the five elements of nature - earth, water, fire, wind and space - in a way that is aesthetically appealing is no easy task. Prof. C. V. Chandrashekar, the choreographer, not only preserved tradition, but also packaged the presentation that was appealing to the senses.
